If you had an option to never feel pain physical and emotional ever again (details below)

however you would not be able to see beauty (visual) ever, would you do it?

I would have to say no. For one, who would never want to see something beautiful again? Secondly, not feeling pain (physical or emotional) doesn't mean it isn't happening. Like one whose hand has no feeling, they would be burning themselves and not even know it however the trip to the ER is still a necessity if they don't want to become infected and die. Aside from all of that, feelings of all sorts remind us we're alive. Without some pain, it would be hard to appreciate fully the feelings of joy and love.

Good answer and clever, now is it possible for your answer to change in a perspective of one going thru a severe depression, some sort of addiction or been emotionally abused as a child, ect.
      Then that question was asked.

Dealt w depression & addiction in the past, I have to say yes or I wouldn't be here. Depression is feeling theres no beauty in the world/life. So I can't feel pain & theres no beauty, Im a shell. Dead/breathing. Some form beauty is all that c

No, it's usually by making it through the trials in life that we better learn to appreciate beauty.  Pain is a part of life and without pain, we can never fully understand it's opposite (joy, peace etc) so pain serves a necessary purpose.  We all have choice that determines what we do because of that pain - whether we overcome and become stronger or succumb to it. Those who overcome great challenges have a greater appreciation for the beautiful and meaningful things in life.

    Hello cruelkindness,

I would decline. There are people who cannot feel physical pain and they have to set alarms to remind themselves to go to the toilet because they cannot feel when it is time to go.

I am not a fan of emotional pain but I think that if we make an effort in life to live and learn and if we take responsibility to make our life as we want it to be then we will have less emotional stress.

    What would you do?

    Your 'Team Leader'

t would be easier to find relief from pain, than to get accustomed to not seeing beauty.  I choose the pain.

Ironic that you ask this question..I acquired an auto-immune disorder 5 years ago that took away my ability to walk..pain unlike none I have ever known became an everyday event.. I chose not to use pain meds..but turned to meditation, yoga and Reiki methods for help. There were times when I desired death to come, but, then thought of my loved ones and moved forward to find my purpose in life..which was to get my words out in the world, which is why I chose to publish a book based on reflections of my life, with decisions and consequences of " living with the quirks". I would never eleviate the physical/emotional part of life..because without it there is no full life..just my thoughts..thanks for asking..AWESOME question...

    It's an interesting question, really.
Just look at all the many art pieces, writings, films that are knee deep in emotion. Without it, there would be no beauty.
If I was to be numb...I cannot say because I am not. Because this could change my train of thought entirely.

No, if one never feels physical or emotional pain then one would not grow. Being content, and feeling good does not inspire change or growth, pain forces change and with it comes growth. I would never want to stay the same, I want to keep moving towards being a better person, and taking away pain would take away the initiative.

Although I do not like the pain we have to go through It helps us grow into stronger people and happier people.. so my answer would be NO..
