I am not aware of summer reading programs, but our library is very active year around. They have weekly children's reading programs, they keep a used bookstore that is manned twice each week by volunteers to sell used books, (it is called "Books Galore".)
Recently they started a free seed exchange program, where seeds of vegetables and flowers may be obtained free of charge, with only one proviso, the recipient needs to bring either their own seeds or a recently purchased packet to replace.
They are presently engaging in an adult writing and reading study program, to help prospective writers.
Our community is blessed with several professional writers of the freelance and book publishing bent, and authors are provided book signing events complete with refreshments for buyers.
They are presently in negotiation with some writing groups to prepare an anthology of short stories written by locals.
We have a very active, capable group of librarians, plus a number of volunteers to man the desks, so the library remains very much an essential part of our community.
