What does your writing space look like?

Do you have a certain place you go to write hubs, poetry, or whatever other forms of writing you enjoy doing? I personally write just about anywhere inspiration strikes. Where do you like to write?

I would love to be able to go sit out in the sun and journal all squinty-eyed again... :-]
Mostly it is where ever I have my desktop at, desks and chairs or coffee tables and pillows.

Great question... I have a studio office set aside for my writing. I like to keep it clean and tidy, to me a cluttered office creates a cluttered mind. It is a place I keep all my favorite books and music, sunlight pours in the better part of the day. It is where I feel at home...

That's funny I feel odd without a bit of clutter here and there! I take after my father, who has electrical diagrams and tools strewn about his computer space at any given time. Senseless notes as well.

I'm the same as Little Miss Lyz, I need a little clutter around me to feel a bit more free while I write. My twin is the complete opposite, though, so I see where you're coming from, Rolly smile

I'm like Little Miss Lyz and Lisa Koski. I can't work in a sterile environment for long. For example, in college, I used to do my studying and homework in the middle of the student union (loud and chaotic)--the library was quiet and so useless to me.

At the moment my writing space is the same as where I eat. A square table with rom on either side of my laptop for (on the left) any notes I need for writing new Hub-pages and (on the right) my book notebook - i.e., notes and usb stick for the creation of my RAVENFEAST series books.
When I win the Lottery/Euro-millions draw I shall buy a new house with a study-cum-library AFTER I buy my next - used - Land Rover County and laptop... oh, and a digital SLR camera.
Question for anyone to field: which do you think is the best laptop for Windows Vista Basic? Answers below (in the comments section).
What I'd like for a work area? A roller-swivel chair for one thing, with arm rests; short-pile light-coloured carpet (so I can find my bits when I've been working on a model, they usually find their way down there!); handy swivel shelving to rest reference books (such as my copies of SAXON CHRONICLES, DOMESDAY, atlases and maps, biography printouts for characters I yet have to bring into my stories - another five to go yet, [or six?] - and any other publications I might need). A good desk lamp and ceiling or wall-mounted lights so I don't get the impression I'm in the Black Hole of Calcutta, as it is in the living room. Shelves for my books (historical, railway and railway mode-making, atlases, travel books) and magazines (mostly railway model-making). A nice big leather sofa and coffee/tea making facilities. A separate area for model-making with another swivel chair, modeller's magnifying glasses (more than one size), small level desk and containers for tools etc.
    Have I left anything out?

My office is an upholstered chair with an ottoman in my living room.  I can watch TV and chat with my family while I write.  Next to my chair is a large bookshelf, a reading light, and a place for my coffee cup.  I use a laptop, an android tablet, and my cell phone to write, so I could work anywhere- but my comfy chair is my favorite place.

Sounds comfy! Anybody with a bookshelf within arm's reach is cool. :-)

I am sad as one of my favorite places to write is closing.  I go to Caribou Coffee 2-3 times a week to work on writing assignments and tomorrow is the last day they are open.  Almost all of the stores are closing in IL so I'll have to find a new "Cheers"...a new creative space...and a new coffee drink to keep me company.

I have a room at home with a desk that is a nice space but I get so distracted at home.  I want to clean or cook or go on a walk...it's hard for me to just sit still and focus at home.

Oh, so sorry to hear this news. :-( Hopefully the next place you find will inspire you in new and different ways!

Currently, I write at either my kitchen table or while standing at the counter. SInce I started writing, there has been a permanent collection of notebooks, pens, flashdrives, reference books and sticky notes stacked on the counter.

We have an office, but it is at the back of the house and has no heat or air at the moment, so it isn't always comfortable to use. Plus, I have a curious toddler who pulls down anything I am working with. So my supplies are scattered through several rooms, usually.

One day I hope to get organized and have a small office are in the living room where I don't feel isolated while working.

A nice comfortable sofa under the window with a big sweeping view over the bushland on my farm, it is great point to see the sun setting down and changing the colours on the sky before the dark set in...the best time for fantasy to roam and imaginative scenes and characters emerge on my screen....

It sounds completely enchanting! I'm jealous! My windows have great views of other houses and roads.

I write sitting up in bed, my laptop on my lap and junk all around (caffeine, my dog, articles and info and objects related to the topic I'm writing about, etc.) If I come up with a brainstorm and I'm away from home or my computer, I'll enter the title and an outline in the Notes app on my iPhone. (Get a pen-like stylus for your iPhone--you'll thank yourself if you do this type of thing or have big fingers.) Then transfer it to the computer later.

I do not have a writing space. I'm like you and write just about anywhere. I at least come up with ideas or start writing anywhere and then i'll continue writing somewhere else and finish writing in another place.

i don't have a specified place. Sometimes i write on the dining table or my son's study desk, hardly enough space for 2 people to share a square table. When i started to write, i will have a dictionary, my exercise books, pencil, eraser and notes all over the table, scatter around. My son gets irritated for occupying his space.

More often than not, I work on my laptop at the dining table at the far end of the living room but I do love writing in bed too. I have one of those bed-table things and I can spread out. Once I found out that Michael Morpurgo did a lot of his writing in bed, I was more than happy to follow his example!
My fantasy writing space would be very different. I would have a comfy chair, so I could spend hours with my laptop. The furniture, cream coloured wood with pale blue furnishings. The walls would be cream coloured and one of them would have 6ft bookshelves, crammed with my favourite books. The desk would be big and roomy, with plenty of space for my laptop, a basket full of pencils and pens and a stack of empty notebooks, just waiting to be written in. Pale blue flooring and curtains to finish, I think. Not that I've given it much thought....!
