   How do you feel about writing controversial material? Are you strong enough to take the heat?

   I always write so-called controversial subjects.   I am NEVER afraid to take the heat.  If the comments are too negative, just simply delete.  Oftentimes, the TRUTH about the matter DOES cause a VISCERAL response from some.  Yes, THE TRUTH often H-U-R-T-S, OUCH!  However, that should never prevent one from telling the truth and seeing the inanities and backwardness of the situation at hand.   One must always analyze and scrutinize the underlying societal construct and the so-called sacred cows, no matter what it is; if some people view this as negative, that is THEIR issue.

   I do enjoy writing on controversial subjects and the more criticism it receives the more fun it has. Unless a reply is outright indecent, I avoid deleting any comment. Sharp reactions add spice to the discussions.

   I have some controversial articles that have created some dissension from family and friends, but I take them in stride.
   Some topics will affect certain people more than others.
   As a writer, I can report about  news and be objective or write about a topic that they are passionate about, that stirs others' emotions.
   If family and friends object to my writing, then it's an opportunity to start a discussion. Sometimes writing is easier than face to face confrontation.

   You could not have asked a more pertinent question as far as I am concerned. Over the last few weeks I have started thinking about writing articles on political issues. Every time I start, I hesitate and am consumed by personal mental images of the possible vitriolic feedback my writing will no doubt cause. I'm constantly dumbfounded by how the opposite side never seems to discuss, they just scream, change the subject, run away or insult me personally.
   My question is, "Does hubpages have a political writers area?"
   Your question, LK, has helped me move on this and I will be checking this out today (though these negative images keep recurring).

   Probably the only controversial writing I've been involved with was one question here a few months ago. The discussion got so heated at one stage that I almost locked the topic, but eventually let it play itself out without any further contribution on my part.
   I'm not very good at handling controversy, but perhaps it's time I learned. I imagine I'd increase the traffic to my Hubs that way.

   IT is a reason to write novels--novels that bring the reader into the fray and allows him to see things a bit differently by the time he/she reaches the last page. No preaching, nothing that would give the reader the idea that he may end up better for the experience--until the final pages. A HUB is far to brief an experience to change another's mind. Arguments abound as we all experience life a bit differently and we are all correct according to the way we have lived it. IT is the reason I wrote the trilogy, "Seeds from Heaven."

   I totally write about controversial subjects. I find it helpful to directly address the concerns of the opposition and provide some history into what made the subject controversial. Often, new laws are misused/exploited resulting in loss of rights by some individuals. That particularly interests me. The laws were enacted for a reason, however, which must be addressed.
