An excellent answer. Too many people depend on what they hear from the media, the pundits and comedians and do not do enough research themselves to understand the difficulty of reaching a consensus on any issue.
Lone Star, this answer is not worthy of you. The public offers no consensus. They are being led down winding paths to nowhere. We were both around when the people voiced their views on civil rights--we saw change. People can rule, but it takes work.

Then fix the problem. Vote for the right people. Write letters to editors. Write (not e-mail) congressmen. Don't tell me, tell them. Speak in specifics and not as if the end was near. There is a future awaiting us, but we have to work for it.
