You can set that per hub. I usually turn off ads on my poetry, as it is very short, and I think the ads are a distraction, since you have no control over where they are placed, or what they advertise.
Depending on the subject matter of the poem, they could end up being in poor taste relative to the subject matter; for example, an ad for advance-purchase funeral products might show up on a poignant poem about death and dying. The ad would be "appropriate" to the topic, but at the same time, not what you want to read in an emotionally charged state, as you can enter from some poetry.
Conversely, since the ads often (as I understand it) often have more to do with your own browsing history, an ad for work boots or fixing broken credit scores would not necessarily be something you wanted to see on a poem about childhood innocence.
So, I turn off ads on poems. That's not where most of the income comes from anyway, so it's no great loss.
