What is a good laptop for writing?
I'm wondering if any other writers can recommend a laptop (or similar device) for mobile writing. I used to like the idea of a netbook, because they were smaller and cheaper, but I think they may have stopped making them.
I use an HP. I like the key response. The screen is big enough and bright enough. It has a plug for an ethernet cable and it also supports wireless. It has a DVD read/write player plenty od ram and a big hard drive. I connect a mouse and it has a mouse pad if for some reason I can't use my mouse. It has a plug for an external monitor. It has about 4 plus hours of battery life if I am not connected to power.
I would stay with major brand names, and look for features that you want. But since we are talking about writing, it is key touch and screen viewing that are most important to me.
Check out a major retailer, I used Best Buy, and actually sit or stand and type.
Good luck.

On the larger size I prefer my Acer Aspire. After having a bad acer once I swore I would never get another one, but a year ago I got one on an amazing sale. It is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. It has a 17.3" HD+LED LCD screen which is large enough to see even if I forget to put my glasses on. The buttons are perfect. I work online for several hours each day inputting orders into a database and my wrists don't get cramped like they have on smaller keyboards before. This model can be bought from $300-$450 depending on where you look.
had an acer not long ago and didn't like it, but then I'm sure acer has a repuation; you get what you paid for. This was free!!t
Yeah, as I said my first one was awful. I mean horrible, as bad as it gets! This one though has been amazing. No signs of slowing down after using it over a year makes it tons better than my last!!
I'lll take my mac anyday. Love the responsiveness and the graphics it can produce, but still word process. Possibly overkill for writing sake, but I use it for tons of things in addition and I can categorize, drag and drop, slice and dice, is it a bird....(just wanted to make sure you were paying attention!)
I could probably get by with a much less expense PC, but truth be told, I'm spoiled now! My husband is a graphic artist which is how I got introduced. If you try it, you'll not go back (per your own volition).
I have an HP laptop and it is going very well till now I had it about two years now. I think it is the best one I ever have. I used Samsung before too but it did not last. I am hoping this will last me quite a while. I strongly recommend them.
Hi M.T. Dreamer
I have actually considered this same question before and went to great lengths trying to figure out what I valued most for writing and I cam up with this.
The most important factor for writing for me is the ease of typing on the keyboard. A renown keyboard is the Accutype keyboard from Lenovo. I would look into their new Chromebook seeing that is is light and has the built in Accutype keyboard all at a low cost (This is not a promotion)
Good luck on your search.
Best Regards
If you use Apple, a MacBook Pro or Air are perfect for laptops on the go. I loved my MacBook Pro for almost 3 years.

What is the best and safest way to clean a laptop screen?I dust my computer monitor regularly and sometimes go over it with a cleaning rag barely dampened with vinegar. My friend says she is terrified of getting her laptop screen wet, however - and I have never used a laptop so can't really offer...

I am excited about all the latest technology that has become apparent in the 21st century. This is especially true about tablets! From the introduction of the Ipad in 2010 the evolution of tablets has become more and more like laptops that I begin to wonder who really needs one. Tablets are...
