Can you categorise H.P. Lovecraft's writing as modernist or postmodernist?

What is the context of Lovecraft's work? Would it be considered either modernist or postmodernist? Why?

Postmodernism isn't defined by time but by features of literary works. Technically postmodernist works have been seen everywhere through history, although the MOVEMENT of postmodernism to which you refer took place in the 20th century (for the US).
