The Best Novels I Read in 2012

I love to read, and I love to share my favorite novels. I even blog about the books I read. In 2012, I read some so-so fiction and some fabulous fiction. Here are some of the better novels I was lucky enough to read in 2012.

Best Novel of 2012 ~ Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl is a suspense novel that teeters on the mystery/thriller genre. Be sure to read it before you see the movie!

Amy Dunne is the gone girl. On her fifth wedding anniversary, she goes missing. Her husband Nick is the main suspect (they always are, right?), but twists and turns keep you guessing and reading and flipping the pages fast!

Gone Girl is Flynn's third novel. I just finished ready Dark Places, and do you know what? I liked it better than Gone Girl. This is a thriller, suspense novel that keeps you guessing till the end. I also loved Sharp Objects, Flynn's other novel.

Best Fiction Books of 2012 ~ The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty

The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty - Surprisingly Unique

The Chaperone is a historical novel based on the life of silent film star Louise Brooks.

The Beginner's Goodbye by Anne Tyler

The Beginner's Goodbye - by Anne Tyler

If you've never read an Anne Tyler book, well, you're lucky. You have a ton of great reading ahead of you!

The Beginner's Goodbye is a novel that showcases Tyler's writing best: a simple story that's well told and well written.

Best Books of 2012 ~ The Painted Bridge by Wendy Wallace

The Painted Bridge - by Wendy Wallace

This novel is set in London in 1859, which right there, lends itself to a great escape, which is what a book should be (in my book).

Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult

The Girl Giant by Kristen Den Hartog

The Girl Giant by Kristen Den Hartog

The Girl Giant by Kristen Den Hartog is a sweet story that's so well written.

I really enjoyed this simple story about a girl who was big and tall, not necessarily a giant but almost.

I think my favorite novel that I've read this year was probably The Hunger Games. I actually sat down and read all three of them in the span of a long weekend, I was so interested. I'm a couple years behind in my reading, but I've definitely been trying to catch up!
