Great job with your lens. Making reading fun for kids definitely is reliant on them having confidence. It is important for the person reading with the child or to the child to have patience and offer encouragement.

With encouragement and the proper plan in place, children can learn to be lifetime readers.

Great lens. The key to helping your kids with self esteem is building positive confidence. Positive messages are 10 times as powerful to build their character as reprimands and correcting their behavior.

Quality time with mom and dad is essential. My kids all learned to read early with phonics. One started at 20 months, but he was exceptional. The others were plenty interested in my reading games by age 3.

I could not afford preschool for my kids. But I found some programs that helped me give them a head start before kindergarten.

I got my kids started early to readâ¦before they ever entered kindergarten. I canât overstate how much it helped their overall confidence level in all subjects. My boy started reading at age 3. As he entered first grade and they told me he was reading on the 5th grade level. Kids love reading when they can learn with no pressure.

Love "oh the places you'll go" and had no idea there was a pop-up! Will have to look that up :)

Personally, I think the most important thing for self-esteem is the actual learning to read confidently - but that's up to us as parents to do (not relying on the schools to do it for us) and backing it up with simple, cost-effective programmes like the one we have at headstartforkids.net

I do not know any of the books from your list, I will have to check if any is available on our bookshelves, but could certainly recommend some books with less direct (although not less valuable) educational messages:

      Mr. Cuckoo by Becky Bloom,

Les P'tites Poules : La petite poule qui voulait voir la mer by Christian Jolibois (sorry, it seems, this is not available in English yet),

When I Grow Up... by Peter Horn

and of coarse the classic The Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont.

All of them talk about confidence, self-esteem and self-respect, just more on a symbolic level, where children's mind operate little differently. Thanks for your list!

They are the future and the future is depend on them. Invest in them. Making wise investment. Teach them right, teach them good and seat back and see. Children are reflection of their parents. My thought.
