Jennifer Shares Squidooing Secrets with Carolyn Howard-Johnson

Excerpts from Their Interview

Carolyn:

I haven't quite figured out how to use ...(social networks). I started trying to use them on my blogs and got hung up. I'm still working on it, though.

Jennifer:

Carolyn, you're fabulous at marketing and making social contacts. I get more contacts from Squidoo when my lenses are built from my passions with substantial content...

I love being able to help others and share new information. That's the heart of social networks. It's helpful to define your topic and your lens purpose when you start. It will grow from there.

My warning is for people not to use it to spam others or to leave random messages on lenses or groups solely to leave their 'lens-print'. Join groups and make comments on lenses, but do so because you're interested in the topic and want your lens-print there.

~ Jennifer Akers, excerpt from the interview, "Jennifer Akers Shares Squidooing Secrets" with Carolyn Howard-Johnson

Carolyn:

So, tell me. Do you see any results of any kind from having a Squidoo lens?

Jennifer:

I've been contacted to write articles on another site, do a podcast interview, and join a Squidoo marketer for a new product based on one of my topic lenses. Just a few things off the top of my head, besides the small checks.

Thanks, Julie! Sometimes, it's hard to visit everywhere you'd like to be, but the point is to spread some genuine happiness (and no plugging your own) in someone's guestbook.

Thanks to Kab, Big Girl Blue, Margaret, Laraine, and you for being social butterflies in my guestbook. :-) [in reply to JaguarJulie]

      Hi Jen,

Wow! I like what you have done with this lens since I was here before. You are the greatest! I've been working like a little beaver .. maybe that's not quite right. Do beavers work late at night? Anyway, I've got another lens done and next will work on your suggestion. All the best to you.

I loved doing this interview. It started just because I wanted to know more about how to develop my own lenses. Everythig is such a learning curve! Jennifer was so positive, so precise, (to say nothing of willing!) it seemed a shame not to share her expertise with many. So it first appeared in my Sharing with Writers newsletter and I spilled that over into my blog. Watch! The two of us might do something on more advanced squidoo concepts! (-:
