A List of Some of The Best Leadership Books Ever

Leaders are readers. This is a listing of some of the greatest leadership development books that you can own.

Great leadership leads to great relationships and great results. Read these books, and apply what you learn to your personal and professional life. If you do, you will have better relationships, better results, and better fulfillment.

In this lens, I have listed some of my favorite leadership books to help you find great resources more quickly. I've also got a section where you can recommend and vote for your favorites.

Are You A Leader?

Business owners, managers, supervisors, parents, coaches, teachers, and pastors are all leaders.

If one of these titles fits you, you are a leader.

The Top Five Reasons Leaders Need To Read

  • To get better at working with people.

  • To get better at controlling themselves.

  • To improve their communication skills.

  • To better understand influence principles.

  • To build better relationships and to get better results.

The transition from bud to boss is a challenging but exciting one, one that brings new responsibilities, new relationship dynamics, and new opportunities for personal and career growth. Often, new supervisors don't get the training, support, and guidance they need to be successful.

I have co-authored a book with my friend and colleague, Kevin Eikenberry, that tackles this challenge.

This is an (admittedly) shameless plug for this book - From Bud to Boss: Secrets to a Successful Transition to Remarkable Leadership.

If you're looking for other books I recommend, keep scrolling down.

Five Great Leadership Books

These are some of the best books on leadership that I have found. I refer to these five books frequently. They are listed in roughly the order I would recommend them to my colleagues and clients.

Five More Great Leadership Books

These are some additional books that I often recommend. These are probably equally as good as the books above, I just can't list every book as my favorite. :)

To me, it makes sense for leaders to read about the art of leadership because it accelerates their learning. After all, why wait for experience? Why not take advantage of others' experiences and insights to speed up your development?

It's imperative to be a voracious reader! I just finished another great book called "That's a Great Question." This one is a collection of more than 500 questions that top business leaders have asked time and again in their organizations. Great resource by management consultant Greg Bustin. http://www.bustin.com/thats-a-great-question

Really important. Every great leader I know is also a great reader.

    It's not a big deal.

Leaders are intuitive. Great leaders take decision based on judgement, not on experimental result. Still, in today's competitive ever-changing arena, reading can be a very good habit for leaders.
