I am Blue

Updated on January 11, 2012

One late night I sat up playing on my cell phone. The funny thing about it is this poem was inspired by an activity I was doing on the phone. My gift for writing hasn’t been developed to the point where I can just put down words and think nothing else of it. Though, when I am deeply inspired and allow my words to come from the heart even I can admit that I have something great to share with the world.

Now back to the inspiration for this poem. I still laugh thinking about it. One late night I was playing on my camera phone. I started editing some pictures, enhancing and cropping them. Eventually I got around to simply playing with the camera and video. I had a little fun and began recording myself in an attempt to develop a comfortable feeling being in front of a video camera. Anyhow, after having my phone for about seven months, that recent late night, I found out my video camera has the function of special color effects i.e. gray, sepia, and most inspiring, aqua. I changed the background color to aqua and found myself looking at my discolored self, utilizing the forward facing camera. I stared at myself jokingly and randomly began singing the words “I am blue”. Once I sang it a couple of times, the rest of the words began flowing, without thought. Most amazing to me was when I wrote this, I honestly felt blue inside even though honestly, I have not experienced the kind of relationship I talk about in this poem, nor was I in a bad relationship moment at the time. However, my son was sleep in his room and my husband was not at home for having to work, so maybe subconsciously I was feeling lonely and blue.

I am blue

I am blue

Cause you left me here lonely and sad it’s true

I can’t take this life alone

Sitting waiting by the phone

There is nothing in this world I want but you

I am blue

I am blue

Cause you left me here lonely and sad it’s true

I’m on hold until you bring

Me back the love that made me sing

Every tear I cry’s in mourning over you

Must admit that this feels strange

Never let love rearrange

My emotions, acts and thoughts

Before I met you

I am blue

I am blue

Cause you left me here lonely and sad its true

Only I am here to blame

Gave my heart for you to play

This heavy sadness I can’t shake don’t know what to do

Cause I am blue

I am blue

Can’t blame nobody else for what I let you do

You came into my life

Promised you’d make me your wife

Now I’m standing here alone and there’s no you

I am blue

I am blue

Cause you left me here lonely and sad its true

I could talk for evermore

On a subject I adore

But I’m learning life must go on without you

Still I am blue

I'm still blue

Cause you left me here lonely and sad its true

Thanks so much. Believe it or not I haven't been writing very long and in the past 3 years I have been doing so, I just now began sharing my work with other people.
