@anonymous: It might not be exactly your 'thing' but try the Narnian Chronicles by C.S Lewis. DON'T be deterred by the recent movies, the books are far richer and more beautiful. C.S Lewis was a friend of Tolkien (author of Lord of the Rings) - they inspired each other. It might be fun to compare their works (Narnian Chronicles, Lord of the Rings) with that in mind.

If you like any book by Chuck Palahniuk or Charles Bukowski or J G Ballard, you'll love Pop-splat. It's a book that will knock your smelly socks off! It's about a university student whose father is murdered in a 'hijacking'. Our hero (or antihero?) realises something fishy is going on and gets his Glock out to catch the bad guys. OK, there's a lot more to it than that. Think of it this way: if Quentin Tarantino wrote a book, this would be it. It's a rip-roaring rollercoaster ride with enough action and entertainment to satisfy anyone but it also has some black comedy and clever ideas thrown into the mix. It'll stimulate your brains as well as your emotions.

@anonymous: The Uglies series. "Uglies", "Pretties", "Specials", and "Extras". They are great and from what I have heard about the Hunger Games they are the same kind of stuff- futuristic but still believable. Really great reads.

if you like mysteries, i suggest Agitha Christie. She has written over 50 mysteries i believe (don't quote me on that). If you like fantasy, then read Eragon (even though the movie sucks) or Fablehaven. Anyone who likes time travel or sci fi should read A Wrinkle in Time and When You Reach Me, they are the my top two favorite books of all time! Enjoy! I liked THE HELP, by Kathryn Stockett, because it was about Relationships, it was really well written, it was Clean, it was not gorey or detailed about beatings or accidents, it had believable, integrous characters. It was like reading historical fiction. From another century, MARY BARTON, by Elizabeth Gaskell, has similar characteristics.

If you liked The Bronzehorse man by Paullina Simons then you'll like Linda Howard books. Howard has some thriller books as well, if you want some of that. Otherwise she has romantic novels, which are great to read and have nice story lines!
