South Carolina Authors

My Favorite South Carolina Authors

Do you like to receive and give books as gifts? I do and I also enjoy purchasing them for myself.

As a South Carolinian, I am always glad to find out about another great South Carolina Author and we do have many of them.

I have chosen some of my favorites to feature here along with some of their books that are available for purchase from Books make such wonderful gifts so I hope that this has made it easier for you to find just the right book you are looking for. It is for sure that you don't have to be a South Carolinian to enjoy these great books.

Happy Shopping!

Lonnie Brooks

Who is Lonnie Brooks?

Lonnie Brooks grew up in my hometown of Pendleton, SC. He was raised living on the "Mill Hill" and his book is filled with fond memories of those years. Pendleton is a small, historic town in upstate South Carolina. Loonie grew up on the local mill hill like so many others during that time period. I am so glad he decided to write his story and share it because there isn't a whole lot written about that time in the south.

Pat Conroy

Who Is Pat Conroy?

Pat Conroy is a well known author who graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC and now resides in Beaufort. Several of his novels have been made into movies and you may be more familiar with the movies than his books but I encourage you to read them. His present wife, Cassandra King, is also an author.

Jimmy Manley

Who is Author Jimmy Manley of Pendleton, SC?

Jimmy is very involved in the American Legion Post 113 and has been active in the community of Pendleton for many years. He is quite the story teller and local folks are enjoying reading his books and catching some very familiar names. My husband's name is used in a couple of the books and that is fun to see.

More Reading

Karen White is Another Author I really Like

Karen White is not originally from South Carolina but does spend a good bit of time in the Charleston Area. Her book, A Touch of Glass, is what my reading group has chosen to read and discuss beginning in January 2016. We will meet once a week and follow the Discussion Guide provided. My sister has read this book twice and highly recommends it.

Two of the authors that I reviewed met at a Book Signing in Beaufort - Anna Simon, author of Kimberly's Flight and John Warley, author of The Moralist
