In books I find the dead as if they were alive; in books I foresee things to come; in books warlike affairs are set forth; from books come forth the laws of peace.

All things are corrupted and decay in time; Saturn ceases not to devour the children that he generates; all the glory of the world would be buried in oblivion, unless God had provided mortals with the remedy of books.

Books are masters who instruct us without rods or ferules, without words or anger, without bread or money. If you approach them, they are not asleep; if you seek them, they do not hide; if you blunder, they do not scold; if you are ignorant, they do not laugh at you.

~ Richard de Bury, Philobiblon, 1339

A dedicated library tote bag will keep your library books corralled

until it's time to return them!

A library due date reminder will cut down on late fees!

A magnet for your fridge, a button for your book bag,

or a sticker for your dashboard!

The Love of Books: The Philobiblon of Richard de Bury - by Richard de Bury (Author), E. C. Thomas (Translator)

Richard de Bury, a Benedictine monk and bishop, wrote his Philobiblon in 1339 to encourage learning and the love of books within the clergy. He was an avid collector of books, one of the first English book collecters in fact, a century before the printing press was invented. As a one-time tutor to the future King Edward III, he inspired the prince with his own love of learning and books and thereby furthered the spread of literacy and education in England.

The Love of Books: The Philobiblon of Richard de Bury (Dodo Press)

In Philobiblon, de Bury "described methods of acquiring books; he rhapsodized on the wisdom they contained; he discussed their various subjects and he lectured on their proper care. He expressed his concern for the follies of mankind that damage or destroy the priceless tomes, and he encouraged the production of new works as well as the preservation of the old."

I love these products. We are book lovers around here too. Yes, bookshelves are full, then books stacked on top of those books. Then there's the Books from the Library shelf etc. etc.
