Can You Walk a Mile in MsLofton's Shoes?

Updated on May 17, 2012

Can you walk a mile in my shoes?

Can you get past all the hurt and the pain that I've been through?

Can you see through all the traps that the people before me have set for me?

Can you make your way through the hole that was dug for me?

Can you see inspite of? Although the rain keeps pouring and sometimes the snow is joining.

Everything is falling all at once but can you walk a mile in my shoes?

Yes I know you've been hurt too but does that mean that you slain me, degrade me or hurt me too because I havent walked a mile in your shoes?

We should be celebrating the fact that not only did we not walk in each others shoes but the fact that we no longer have to walk in those shoes.

Celebrate the fact that God has given us some new shoes.

In fact, he said we could have any kind of shoe that we wanted, yet we still sit back and focus on those old shoes.

We still focus on those other shoes, we point the finger at the other person because our toes still hurt from those other shoes because we cannot give them up.

It's been years and we are still trying to walk in those shoes and so we have stepped up on pedestal so high that we fail to see what we have done to others or yet one another.

And all I want to know is can you walk a mile in my shoes?

Its not a being cocky is just a question?

Can you walk a mile in my shoes before you make a suggestion or assume some part of you is better than me just because of what you have been through.

Can you walk a mile in my shoes? Because life has many lessons.

      Hi dmop,

That was very true what you said, you didn't miss the point totally. I t was more about how sometimes people think highly of themselves and forget that they were once in a similar situation to someone else.

We often find ourselves looking at our past as if we are still there. It is difficult to overcome where we have been, but we must keep faith and stay strong, for the road ahead leads to who knows where. I find that if I just take off my shoes and go barefoot the path seems less like it did before and leads to brighter places than I had envisioned. This was a great piece of poetic intrigue, I hope I didn't miss the point all together.

This was nice and so true, so many times people bash each other because they always think they have been to hell and no one else have been to. So many times people say you don't know what am going through and sometimes you have been through worst than them. God allow us to walk in those shoes so that later on we can help others put on their shoe to walk their mile.

Choice of expressions are wonderful. This poem is esthetically beautiful.
