Children's Books by Russell Hoban and Lillian Hoban
Kids Books with Delightful Animals: Beavers, Badgers, Moles, Otters, and Brutes
I love the children's books written by Russell Hoban and illustrated by Lillian Hoban.
The delightful animals depicted in black and white are not the normal cutesy cats or dogs or bunnies. No, the Hobans wrote about badgers, beavers, moles, otters, and even some Brutes. These critters are still cute, just different than the typical animals shown in most picture books.
The stories are simple and sweet. They give a lesson without being preachy. They're perfect!

Charlie the Tramp - by Russell Hoban, Illustrated by Lillian Hoban
Charlie is a beaver who decides one day that he doesn't want to be a beaver. He wants to be a tramp instead.
Read this book, alone or with a child, to see what happens when Charlie goes off tramping on his own.
The wonderful ending makes the entire beaver family happy and proud of Charlie.
Frances the Badger

The Mole Family Christmas - Moles Celebrate Christmas
Find out what happens one winter before Christmas when Delver Mole learns that Christmas exists.
Will "the fat man in the red suit" bring him what he wants most: a telescope? Read this to your child in the weeks leading up to Christmas as a fun way to build the anticipation and suspense of the magical holiday season.
This is a charming book that is so sweet and adorable.
