Walk a Mile in my Shoes

Updated on October 27, 2012

How many times have we heard the phrase "Walk a mile in my shoes".

I think, if we could actually see what it feels like to the other person

who we hurt through our words.

Everyone would act in a completly different way.

What I saw....

through your eyes

the experience gave me ..

quite a surprise

Would we still hurt the one we love ?

Would we think beforehand how it actually felt....when your words pierce

the loving heart of the dearest one of your life.

My thoughts.... my actions

my words did hurt

I saw the pain ..

I felt the dirt...

The words of love come from within.

It takes some people quite a bit of thought and time,

to say what they feel to the one they love.

But when anger or jealousy or many of the bad emotions that cloud your mind take over.

Words hurt.

If you would see....how it could be

to softly touch .. your cheek

just to hear the words

that you used to speak

gone from my life... lost in the air

gone... now my soul is bare .

Lovely words. I think you really don't know who someone really is until you have walked in their shoes and have seen what they have seen. :)

Beautiful interpretation of an old and wise saying. Its always a good thing to think of the other person and what effect we'll have on them. You've explained is so well in a lovely poem Mike.

      Voted up and awesome.

It's a learning experience. Nobody is perfect and we hurt people with and without intention sometimes. It is so nice to write about it, vent about it, and share this, isn't it? Don't you feel as though your soul is a little lighter this evening? :) I enjoyed this one very much & related to it as well.

teaches , thank you for commenting on my work. emotions sometimes make us say something before we really think and then it is to late to take them back.
