Command Authority a Jack Ryan Novel by Tom Clancy

Updated on November 13, 2013

It was a sad say last October when Tom Clancy passed away. He was one of my favourite light reading authors and he will be sadly missed by many. His tales have been made into many blockbuster films as well, and for me that says a lot about his story telling ability.

This new and last book by Tom is another in the Jack Ryan series (Clear and Present Danger, Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and The Sum of All Fears), and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be snapped up for a movie as well, with one the previous Jack Ryan's in the lead; Affleck, Ford or Baldwin!

I can't review this because I have not yet read it, I will read it over the Christmas holidays and I can promise you it will be devoured in most likely under three sittings! I can say that no matter what Tom Clancy's last book was, I would buy it no matter what, in his honour. Being a writer myself, I can only aspire to his command of character development and storytelling. It is also rare for a writer in any age to be able to earn such a living with the written word, I can think of only a few who have accomplished this, while still alive.

I have mentioned in previous posts, that I only read books that come recommended to me by friends family or people I trust, but with Tom Clancy's books, I can always trust in him as a writer, and I have never yet been disappointed, so even without reading this, I can recommend it to you for your holiday travel reading pleasure.

Tom himself.

Why we loved Tom.
