Complete Collection Berkshire Hathaway Annual Letters to Shareholders
I'm going to assume you know who Buffet is and that he holds the unchallenged title for best investor of all time. I've summarized all other important facts in a Q&A format:
Q: What's in this book?
A: Buffet writes a letter to his investors every year and they are collected in this book.
Q: Is it going to make me money?
A: Maybe, Idk. It depends what you do with the man's knowledge. It might save you some very costly mistakes at the least. As Buffet is quite frank about sharing what his mistakes have been over the years.
Q: Can't I get this for free on the Berkshire website?
A: Yes, most of the letters can be downloaded for free from Berkshire's website. However this book also includes the 1965-1976 letters that aren't available on there. I got it after I read many letters for free on his website. It's nice to have them on my kindle in a readable format and to have the complete set.
Q: Does it contain all his letters?
A: The book contains all letters from 1965 to 2012.
Q: He is such a great investor, Is it a complicated book?
A: No, Buffet is very down to earth and his writing is very easy to understand. The hard part is putting the simple teachings into practice :)
Q: If I buy the kindle copy will it be updated with the new letters when released?
A: Max who compiled the book has indicated on the Amazon website that he will try to update the digital book with the new letters after they are released. The physical book won't be updated during 2014 at least.
Q: If I have advanced knowledge of the markets and investing, should I still buy this?
A: Some things Buffet will tell you have been reiterated by others. Many lessons you could draw or described experiences you will have heard before but in my experience nothing beats getting it from the source.
Q: Why is Buffet the greatest investor of all time?
A: He is the greatest because he acquired the majority of his networth by investing in a diversified set of businesses and reached the top of the networth charts. He accomplished some of that while a huge asset base handicapped him during the challenge.
Q: How did Buffet learn to invest?
A: He was inspired by Graham and Dodd. Especially the book the Intelligent Investor was very important to him.
Q: Is there also advice by Charly Munger (Buffet's partner in here)
A: Buffet frequently cites or quotes Charly but Buffet writes these letters. If you want to know more about Charly and his highly interesting philosophies you should read Poor Charly's Almanac.
The foundation of Buffet's investment style.
Charly and Buffet have proven to be an unbeatable team and when you read Charly's almanac you will understand that he is different from Buffet but brings a lot to the table.
