Confusion - a haiku

Updated on April 17, 2012

Why does she do that

actions speak of confusion

ideas flow grow loud

Endlessly thinking

worrying becoming stressed

no way out of this

A light dawns dimly

clarity emerges now

She feels calmer safe

Trusting confusion

will lead her to clarity

Different thoughts flow

stimulates right brain thinking

Confusion kindles

Patterns of behaviour

differences are noted

According to whom

psychologists analysts

madness diagnozed

Medicated, still

Stripped of creativity

no longer herself

Wow, what powerful words! It seems that she is torn between the pain of being real and forgetting but feeling good. Wonderful!

Thanks. I work with some teens who suffer anxiety and this poem was an attempt to understand their dichotemy.

I believe that many who suffer from confusion are not necessarily helped by the medication they are prescribed. Their minds are so filled with thoughts that cannot be untangled, supportive and understanding people will help them work through the confusion. Great poem!
