The Darker Side of His Mind

Updated on January 25, 2014

When the Dark Side is Driving

Driven by the dark places that live inside his mind

Accumulating episodes of things best left behind

the memories are far too strong

to fight the darkness till it´s gone,

No . He is driven by the dark side now !

His hands are knarled from working hard,

all his loney life.,

But pain in body can´t compare to

the pain inside his mind.

It drives him to make plans

that no man e'er should make.

To become desructive when his nature was one filled with grace.

If only there was someone to soothe his tortured soul

to whisper words he needs to hear,

to give him hope...... a goal....

But this man stands alone., tortured and abandoned,

though he had a heart of gold the demons now are stronger,

and fight the gentleness that once was he,

they take over and engulf till only darkness can he see.

On a moonlit night, he walks and wonders is it MAD he´s going?

But the voices reassure him, it isn't madness that he´s showing.

Memories of hateful acts, abandonement and pain,

Intimidation was his wont, from those who sought great gain,

The madness isn´t so, at all, Rage, revenge, is gaining ground,

and welling up and swirling round, until into a plan it forms.

A plan that cannot fail.

Yes, he´s driven by the darkness now, that lives inside his mind.

It may destroy him long before he can take revenge.......

but...... there is no soft whisperer to guide him to the light,

to give him hope, ... a goal, steer him from the fight.

and whisper...´´This way...... This way..... Walk towards the light.

Dim my lady, this was very dark and gruesome indeed. I hope it's not someone you know, I feel a kindred spirit to this man. I also feel his pain and loss. Beautifully written you painted with dark blacks and greys my friend, wonderfully painted in words. Hugs

You are a serious talent my friend. I am not a great fan of reading poetry but I saw your name and it was well-worth the visit. Excellent imagery!

We need some madness to fuel the rage against life's injustice..."to soothe his tortured soul". Madness after all is a matter of perception; A knife edge between light and darkness :) Nicely done.

Incredible Dim! So powerful, so awesome. The words flowed into a state of imagery to where I saw the man fight against self will and self hate. Awesome!

It is the story of that moment when anger and dip ration have crossed all the limits of patience and consciousness. It is the moment when we need any very own ones who take us in one' heart and say--'Be alert, my dear, it is not your way .It may destroy you'.

Really good subject you have picked in your poem and composed well. Congrats. Voted up.

Hello Dim. You have written a dark tale of revenge and madness; but you also offer directions to the light. This reached a new depth.

This is truly a dark and mysterious poem, but I very much like it. The tone, setting, images and words all come together so well to convey the dark interiors of this man's mind. Althought, I bet YOU could bring him towards the light. Well done!

The darker side of the mind that resides in us all. You describe this so powerfully and how one can get easily get lost in the darkness and forget that light resides in the mind too.

Beautiful and sad...this tortured soul reminds me of someone who walks in sorrow, and I feel comes close to walking the Left path. Your imagery and atmosphere are marvelous but the way you describe his sadness, and considering revenge just tug at the heartstring. Awesome job!

This is a very sad poem but in reality this is what drives some people on the road to self destruction. You write some lovely hubs with lots of meanings.

      Thank you janhorner,

It is sad , but sometimes I feel the words just tumble out, when I think of sadness in the world. (All the lonely people, where do they all come from?. Lennon/McCartney. Eleanor Rigby. )

I remember that track so well. I was only around 13 or 14 years old and even then it made me feel heavy hearted because I was lucky to have a family.

You capture the dark side very well.Even though I like the bright side better you make me think. For I have recieved your sweet hellos that light my desire. Now it is time to return the favor,We never forget,We just get lost in our own world sometimes.Until we step away and see the world at play.We do not know how beautiful life is not just in are circle but in every circle that we happen to encounter.Have a beautiful day.
