Science Fiction Book Series by Grant Morris
Science-fiction thrillers appeal to all ages
Review of the current science fiction book series by Grant Morris, and other authors in the genre including Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game) and James L. Ferrell (Close up The Sky).
What would it be like to find an artifact from a culture that lived over 70,000 years ago? It would be the greatest scientific discovery of all time! Now what would happen if it was covered in mysterious symbols and made out of pure gold?
Deacon Leeds and the Pyramid of Symbols is the first book in "The Pyramid Adventures" by author Grant Morris. This science fiction & fantasy book is intended for young adult readers, but I think it will appeal to all ages because the themes are so interesting and the writing style is excellent. image via scenicreflections.com
Any reader will have someone to identify with in these stories because the author gives equal time to boys and girls as leading figures. But, the best qualities of this book are the convincing characters, and the historical background that gives the story credibility and keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next.
Follow the adventure of Deacon Leeds, a teenager on summer vacation in Antarctica, in an adventure story that alternates between two time lines that eventually merge and become a single story.

Interesting characters in the book

But after the trials of the competition, the new High Priestess Kyra is forced to into war with the the dark forces of the Shadow, which could be the end of everything.
Deacon has his own problems with another boy at the remote station who has his eyes on the priceless, solid-gold pyramid. When the treasure goes missing, Deacon follows after his rival, Broderick Norsworthy, to get the pyramid back and to find his father. Traveling across the frozen tundra is dangerous, especially with the Shadow on your trail.
The geographic setting - Continent of Antarctica
Respect for nature
Book is written with respect for nature and the earth, concern about the equality of women and men, and the balance of good and evil. While at the same time, the author creates interesting people living in a richly detailed world that seems completely believable.
Mother Earth is represented in the book by a beautiful device that brings a vivid picture to mind as a glowing orb floating in the air which shows the weather conditions of the planet.
Look in awe with Deacon as he discovers the meaning of the golden pyramid and how to use the "Signs of Life" inscribed across the surface.

Or was it somehow related to the story that the local, busy-body reporter would put in her newspaper the next day about the strange lights in the sky seen by everyone in town.
