The author also draws the cartoons in the book. Jeff Kinney worked as a computer programmer and newspaper designer before becoming an author.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Jeff Kinney's first book that started the series is called Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The wimpy kid Greg Heffley gives all kids a role model to relate to. Each book is a funny look at how hard it is to fit in and deal with school, of all things!

I haven't read any of these (oops, my librarian skills are slipping in retirement). I can see why the Diary of a Wimpy Kid would hit the spot with kids everywhere.

My son and I have seen BOTH movies, and read most of the books. I dont have the cabin fever book yet and I have not yet read all of Rodrick Rules. I tried but Rodrick is just so horrible to Greg, I just could not finish it. I think Rodrick is a horrible role model to use as an older brother and I really dont want my son to think that doing the nasty things that Rodrick does is COOL- because they are not. But I will say that the actor who protrays Rodrick in the movies is a cute looking kid.
