Do you have a book in you?

Have you ever wanted to be one of those lauded individuals who write for a living? I have! Waking up every day, not to work in an office or on a building site, but to sit in front of a piece of paper and fill it with inspiring words. It seems almost everyone I talk to would like to write a book and thinks that maybe they have the wherewithal to actually put it down in words. Strangely enough, even though they think it is so brilliant that it is virtually guaranteed to be a rip roaring success, they never quite get around to actually doing it. It just stays in their head until the next time something jogs their memory enough to let them think about it. They file it away as something to do ‘when they have more time’. The trouble is, ‘more time’ never happens. If you are going to do this, you need to make the time yourself. Whether that is the odd half-hour here and there or setting a regular time per week to write something, you need to make it happen. It won’t just happen by itself.

How to write your first book

Do you think that maybe you have a plan for just the book in your head already? Have you had an idea for a book that has been festering away for a while? Do you think that maybe, just maybe, you could write it down and it could be as good as one of those books written by JK Rowling? Well, of course you can do it. Whether it will be the runaway success that the Harry Potter books have been is another matter but you will never know if you don’t try.

Why not make today the day that you go for it? Start putting pen to paper, sorry, I should get with the times, it is far more likely that you will put fingertip to computer keyboard but it just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, does it? Anyway, I was in this situation a few weeks ago and I happened upon this book writing website that inspired me to give it a go.

My favorite book writing website

If you think you need some book writing help, then you could do worse than having a look at this page on how to write a book. It gives you the tools for writing a book – even if you haven’t got a clue how to write your first book. If you don’t know where to start or even if you don’t think you can do it.

Incidentally, what makes you think you can’t? Maybe you don’t have an amazing education. Well, that doesn’t matter as much as you might think. After all, if the story is there, then there are always spell checkers, grammar checkers and editors to help you on your way. And let’s face it, you know enough about English to read this hub so what is to stop you writing something easily as readable that people find fascinating.

As the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu said “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Or, in this case, “A novel of a thousand pages begins with a single word.”

What is stopping you from writing your first book? I have decided to give it a go, so come along with me for the journey and let me know in the comments how you are getting on.
