don't be sad

Updated on April 15, 2013

Don't Be Sad

This lense is about a book that I like 'Do Not Be Sad' by Aaidh Ibn Abdullah al-Qarni.

A friend of mine recommended this book after I kept telling her my problems, and since then, I know now, why being too sad and too indulge in this feeling is bad to the body.

One of the ideas of the book is to help banish worry, sadness, grief, sense of failure and hopelessness.

I've read the book a few years back, and now, I trully understand, why being sad is bad. Things happen, but life go on. Learn and live with it, but do not let it ruin you.

What is Good Life?

Quote.. from page 305

It is most possible for you, while you are behind steel bars, to look out upon horizons and to smell roses. It is also extremely plausible for you to be in a castle replete with opulence and comfort and yet be angry and discontented with your family and wealth.

A poem

Don't Be Sad

If you are stricken by poverty,

Others are chained in debt

If you don’t have shoes,

Others have no feet

If you feel pain now,

Others have been aching for years

If your son dies

Others have lost many

If you have sinned then repent

If you have committed a mistake, correct it

The doors of repentance are ever open

The fountain of forgiveness is ever rich

SO DON’T BE SAD

Let all bygones be bygones

What is predestined for you, you shall see it

Being sad will not change anything

SO DON’T BE SAD

Sadness spoils your life

Destroy your happiness

And turns it into wretchedness

So don’t be sad

Supplication is your shield!

Prayer is your beacon

Prostration is your means

So don’t be sad

See how vast is the earth

How nice is are the gardens and forests

How bright are the stars!

All are happy, but you are sad

So don’t be sad

You have sweet water to drink!

Fresh air to breath!

Feet to walk with

You sleep safely in your bed

So why be sad?

Every cloud has a silver lining!

After long nights, comes the bright sun!

Life soon will give you a smile

So be ready to get it

And don’t be sad

Real life is that spent in happiness!

So cross out your sad days from your age

Peace of mind is the real treasure

Sorrow avails not

So don’t be sad

What Is Happiness?

Happiness is the solace that is derived from being upon the truth, a piece of mind that is achieved by living according to sound principles, and calmness that is brought about by living a life of goodness.

Don't be sad as sadness could lead to unhappiness, and unhappiness could lead to depression.

Depression is not good. Heal it.

There will always ways to heal sadness. When you have nothing to do and fill it with unnecessary thought, that's when unnecessary things happen. When having no work to do, one can fill his time with so many useful things. Especially by doing good deeds. When you do good, good things will come back to you.

Don't be Sad, Let's be Happy - Happiness Makes You Younger

Sadness in Poison

~ Good humor is the health of the soul, sadness its poison ~

Smile even when you sad

“Smile, even if it's a sad smile, because sadder than a sad smile is the sadness of not knowing how to smile.”

Why cannot be sad

Taken from the book, page 79

Sadness causes you to imagine poison when you are looking at pure water, to see a cactus when you see roses, to see a barren desert when you are looking at a lush garden, and to feel that you are in an unbearable prison when you are living on a vast and spacious earth.

End Sadness

Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself.
