Try... - By Dolly Parton
Dolly's nickname "Book Lady" came about after the Dollywood Foundation created a program in 1995 to help early childhood literacy in Tennessee where she grew up at. It is called Dolly Parton Imagination Library. It was created to help give every preschool child a book each month from the time he or she is born until the child reaches kindergarten. As a little girl growing up where literacy was a problem it affected her so much that she wanted to help other children; give them an opportunity to learn to read.
Dolly remembers a fond memory of how happy her Dad was when he expressed how proud he was for this program being created "He thought it was grand that all the kids called me the Book Lady."
