Poem: The Englishman.

Updated on February 1, 2015
Source

For Love of Country.

I sit here and I think these days of days gone by and you,

the blood the sweat the tears were shed but milk and honey too.

The years we've had together brought laughter smiles and pain,

should I return to earth one day, tis here I would remain.

Your rolling hills your fields of green your shores of sea and sand,

I am you see an Englishman and you are my England.

A nice tribute to England and the Englishman. I very much relate to this as it reminds me of my father.

Hi Pamela. Thank you so much for your valued visit, comments and votes. They are greatly appreciated.

I'm so glad that your feelings for your adopted country are the same as mine are for England. I feel sure you will make a valuable contribution to it's wellbeing.

The Scots and the Irish people do have a grit and determination which I feel sure you possess by your own actions. Thank you again.

      Graham.

Up and awesome. Oh -- to have a patriotic feeling for one's country as you do -- and your wife does, too, no doubt. Actually I do have such a feeling but it's for my adopted country which I will be returning to very soon.

I have some English ancestors -- and Scottish ones and Irish, too, so I really am drawn to this lilting kind of poetry. Lovely.
