The pain never really goes away..... - poem

Updated on December 17, 2010

Peace

A year ago today,

My world was turned around.

Life lost it's very meaning,

The day they laid you in the ground.

I remember when it happened,

The phone dropped to the floor.

And to my knees I fell,

Already unable to take anymore.

It makes one year today,

That I've had to live like this.

Longing for nothing else,

But one last gentle kiss.

To touch your face again,

I'd give everything I had.

To get to say I love you,

Maybe you would'nt have hurt so bad.

Everyday your in my thoughts,

And at night you catch my tears.

Being alone like this,

Is one of my greatest fears.

Forever I will miss you,

Forever, like once before.

Rest in peace my love,

With the pain you feel no more...

Amy, Your pain and loss is so poignant and emotionally heart-wrenching. I am so sorry. The deeper one loves, the deeper the pain of loss. Keep writing and sharing. Sharing the pain somehow eases the intensity. God bless you!

Such heartfelt and gripping images! Death is such a robber, isn't it? Steals our joy and our potential for future joy with our loved one. Your poem tugged my heartstrings.

I'm sorry for your pain. This is a beautiful poem memorializing your feelings. There is an incredible song by a singer named Patty Griffin called "Goodbye." It is about your situation and she sings in a way that makes grown men cry. It's very intense and you may or may not want that but your poem reminded me of this and I just thought you might want to know... God Bless You....
