flowers_

Updated on March 4, 2013

I walked to the cemetery today

taking the long way

needed some time

to collect my thoughts

haven't spoken to you for awhile

I brought some flowers

picked them myself

the groundskeeper almost caught me

but

that's where you first found me

I had to go to the beginning

just so I could deal with the ending

taking the road less traveled

seems I've been here before

the footprints in the sand

match my feet

knees

and hands

the tombstones came into view

all too soon

so I sat upon the edge of the creek

our secret place

we would sometimes meet

my hands on the swings rope

watching the bumblebee's fly

on the wings of faith and hope

I remember when we flew like them too

it rained this morning

and I waited for the rainbow

and I waited...

the sun is shrieking now

but the heat feels dark

the shade from dead branches never hide the pain

earlier in the day

I bought some balloons for you
seemed appropriate

being your birthday

but I didn't want them to be tied

not like I'm still tied to you

seems a part of me is still lost in you

so I let them go

pretending they were my memories

I said, fly

be free

but they got caught up in a tree

so I picked these flowers

sorry I didn't bring any water

their wilted petals

remind me of things that once were

They say, love never dies

and I promised I wouldn't cry

but I miss you so much

I will never forget

the love you gave

as I rest these flowers upon your grave

hey Faith... thanks so much... whenever I begin to write something, i have no idea how it's going to end... If I'm not inspired I can't write, because it's not 'real' I think, for me anyways, that writing is like being an actor... and a great actor can make you believe - and you forget who they are, they 'become' the character.. so it is with writing, for me... I try and become the character... anyone can throw words together to get a rhyme... but for me it's more personal... one trick i sometimes use is to listen to a song that really touches my heart... then when I'm in that emotion, I can write with that same emotion... well, I'm just rambling now :) Thanks so much Faith... God bless!

Came back to share, as I said I would do so. I do that same thing, where I am inspired by a song, and then I write something, as you say, an emotion is touched or felt. You're not rambling dear heart, just conversing. Yes, for the most part, I write non-fiction based on my true life experiences.

Have a lovely night, Faith Reaper

Thank you for this. So funny when she died, her parents, family, friends, children, only one knew she hated flowers.

Thanks Faith... appreciate that my friend... yeah normally in my free time the only things I read are non fiction... except for poetry... I have a hard time reading anything fiction if it's not in poetic form... guess I've read so much poetry that if the piece doesnt' have rhythm or rhyme I have a hard time staying interested in it... Have a great day!
