Why do you write?
There are so many ways to use the valuable free time we have. Why do you choose to use at least some of that time Writing? You could be walking, running, biking, fishing, kayaking, gardening, crafting (is that even a word?), baking, watching tv, eating or any one of a host of other hobbies. Why do you write?
I write because I love inventing, creating, and contorting people, places, and things. I love the power that comes from being able to determine the fate of your characters and being able to bring words together to create prose, poetry, and other forms of writing. Love words. That is why I write. Words come from the heart and they are used to express everything from how one feels to how one learns. Writing is a learning experience that is truly universal.
I like what you said about controlling people, places and things. It has to be better doing that in a story you write rather than in real life. Great thoughts CrazedNovelist.
Thanks so much for giving me your feedback. Controlling events in your own book makes you feel kinda powerful, lol. It's kinda fun too.
Hi cam8510. I write because I have to. I truly believe I was born to write, because even when I'm not writing, I'm thinking about writing. I love writing, went to college and majored in subjects requiring me to write, and worked for many years in professions where I wrote for a living. Now I'm writing for the pure joy and freedom that it brings to my life. I'm writing novels, short stories, and ebooks, and I'm even creating an online magazine where, for the first several issues, I'll probably write all the content. Writing, inventing, creating, editing, and publishing--these are the things I love. I think most writers share most, if not all, of these traits.
drmiddlebrook, I was wondering if someone would say what you just said: "write because I have to." I can relate. I write because I have an inner compulsion to express myself. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. I will check out some of your craft
Writing help me to think about the subject more deeply. It is a mental exercise. While thinking, I come to know different aspects of the subject.
I am also improving my writing skill which is helpful in my day job.
I write to kill time when I am bored. I write to inform my audience about different topics and programs of interest to me.I write because it is fun.
I find sharing your knowledge and opinions to a mass audience is extremely enjoyable. Writing about things you enjoy can also motivate you to keep at it.
jackcoburn, I get a bit of a chill, or a thrill just knowing that someone is reading what I have written...and maybe even liking it. Thanks for your input.
Yeah I wonder sometimes who is reading my stories and I get so excited when someone takes the time to comment!
No worries mate!
I write because:
1.) I'm highly opinionated----or at least I like a good debate.
2.) I learn awful a lot things when I research, read and write which all keeps my opinions in check.
3.) I really don't know how do do anything else with the same proficiency, interest and desire as writing.
4.) I'm curious, inquisitive and imaginative.

Why do you write? Is writing your passion in life, or do you just write in an attempt to purely make money, or both? Or is there another reason you write?

If you had to choose from being able to only read books, or only write, which would it be?I don't want to leave my answer yet, because I am interested in reading what you all have to say first!

I always wondered why those little words effected people so much, so i ask my fellow hubbers out there to tell me and try to answer the question, "why is saying i love you so hard?"
