What was your greatest achievement for 2012?
It can be an event that gave you great joy also? Mine was to stick it out on Hubpages for a year. Through the ups and downs it was a great ride. So I 'll be here another year. Happy New Year to Hubbers of Hubpages.
Rediscovering my love for writing! I had been wracking my brain trying to figure out what I could do with my life...and my need for money eventually brought me to Hubpages. Now, I just write to write, even though I'm not getting much money. I think I could go somewhere with this! (Also, as soon as I found this potential "path", I stopped drinking as much. 2012 rocked!)
Happy new year to you, too!
To survive financially for the whole year after having quit my job end of 2011, without having to find another job, AND setting up my financial security for 2013 so I don't have to get a job then either. It was touch-and-go at some points.
Happy 2013 suzzycue.
If there is one thing that I can take from this past year is that I finally got published. Much thanks goes to HubPages, because without them my getting published would not have been possible. HubPages provided the platform in which the publisher was able to find online. The story in question is,"The Magic White Swan." It's a Lao Folktale which was told to me at a young age verbally. In the Fall of 2013, the story will be read by thousands of middle school children in a test bank. Okay, so the publishers are not the likes of Double Day or Random House, but it's a start. The story just might catapult me into finding a literary agent for one of my novels. In either case, I'm no longer an unsolicited author, but rather a published one. So thanks HubPages for making it possible!
Happy New Year!!!
I take pride in my answer to a call for slogans for the political party I am affiliated with. I wrote four or five of them, to be posted at their booth in the County Fair. They received a lot of attention, not just from local people but from miles away. Although it was entirely pro bono work, I feel it was an achievement to be proud of.
Staying alive............. ------------- ---------------- ............................
Completing and publishing my book. "My Cat Won't Bark! (A Relationship Epiphany). I can now state I am in agreement with most writers: Writing the book is the (easy) part! lol!
After thirty years, I quit smoking. I used the Chantix program and even though it was bothering my sleep and controlling my moods I took it for five weeks. It was enough. I'm still tobacco free. It turns out I could kick the habit without going the recommended 12 weeks on Chantix.
This year was quite a smooth ride in general. There was not much bumps on the road and even if there were, they were not as difficult as I thought they were.Family life was generally good except for my mom who is in her twilight years and needs more assistance now. I voluntarily take care of her now and have her move in with me and my husband.I want to spend as much time with my mom and give her my quality time. She deserves that from me and I definitely owe that to her after all her years of unconditional sacrifice for me and the whole family. I was lucky to meet people I have not seen in years and reconnect with them, thanks to social networking and email.I did quite a bit of travelling- a real passion for me .I was able to help people through my volunteer work and I was also able to help people anonymously.A very memorable incident for me that really made my christmas is a family, whom i knew through onother online friend ,was in dire need and had hit rock bottom. No money for food for Christmas to feed her 13 children. This lady has 13 children and she is only 36 years old.I sent this lady money and also sent a big box of food stuffs. She had no idea where the money nor the food came from but my online friend ,who is this lady's neighbor , volunteered to take pictures of this lady when she recieved the gifts. The lady was crying in tears when she got her gifts .Up until now she still do not know who sent her the gifts. My online friend is keeping me updated though. That was such a thrill!!!!
I am honored to know you. There is a hub here you know. God bless you for taking care of your Mom. My Mom is 84 and my dad 82 and I am also blessed to have them in my life so long. I can understand your thrill of giving a caring gift. God Bless.
I had successfully built a website http://brandedoffer.com , after six year struggles. Not just that I had completed my CA course.
My greatest achievement was saving the life of a badly injured kangaroo, the vets said it wouldn't survive, but with constant attention, a quiet environment and lots of love, it pulled through and is now happily hopping around my paddocks with two other kangaroos I care for.

I have finally finished writing 100 quality Hubs. Even though it took me a long time, but I was not totally concentrating on it. But now I have decided to devote my full time for Hubpages. I will continue to write more useful Hubs in the future. Thank you hubpages for providing such a good platform...

I have been here for 17 months and today is the day when my 29 hubs have been viewed for 100.000 times. What do you think? Is that good? I'm quite proud.

I'm not finished mine, but I worked my way across the US as a Labor and Delivery nurse, and am working on this book idea in my head that will NOT die. I've finished about half...anyone tried getting published, or are there publishers that people on this site like?
