   That's an easy answer. . .if you mean read for my own pleasure and not for work.  I prefer fiction, especially Christian romance. My grandmother used to read series' by Gilbert Morris and then pass the books on to me to read. I enjoyed the House of Winslow series, which chronicaled a family through generations from just before the American Revolution to about the 1950s.  I also enjoyed the series with Dr. Cheney Duvall.  The Stars for a Light, in particular.

   I love getting stuck into a gripping novel, but sometimes my concentration is poor. Non-fiction comes into play then, ones which are written in short sections are easy to skip read until I'm more focussed.

      Hi innerspin,  thanks for answering!  Yes, those gripping novels are great, but do require good concentration.  I love non-fiction, as that is mostly what I write too.

   I like a balance of both. I read fiction when I want an escape. It's relaxing and stimulating all at the same time. I read a lot of non-fiction too. Regardless, I love reading because there is always something to learn. I have been delving more into poetry too. I tend to like the old classics best, but I am not good at interpreting some of them. I like to write poetry too and it's not real great but its a wonderful medium to express yourself in a creative way.

   Faith......I can easily say I'm a Non-fiction reader.  Very seldom will I read a Novel, and usually because it's been recommended by someone whose opinion I value dearly.   When I do read fiction, I enjoy the book and think that I will read more by that particular author.....but I boomerang back to my Non-fiction.
   The one exception, is any new book by John Grisham...he is positively fabulous and I love court room drama.... a lot.

      Hi fpherj, thanks for answering.  Yes, my first love is non-fiction, and that is what I love to write too.  Oh,I  really love John Grisham's novels, especially.  Yes, and I can relate to him, as I work in the legal field in the real world.

   On hubpages and online in general I love reading about travel  and other non fiction.
   If I am going to read a book in bed it will be a romance or mystery fiction story ! Love reading !

   I go through stages, though the cozy mysteries have always been my favorite. I love reading the nonfiction of Alaska. Imagine I wanted to live there and kinda still do, but I couldn't handle the cold anymore. I went a couple years reading mostly nonfiction about our great and brave Indians. Like I said, I go through stages. And I never realized I enjoyed poetry until I discovered great poets on HubPages.

   Mostly fiction, but as I do a lot of my reading at night - I can't always read the non-fiction ones - they move a little fast, and make me think too much - so I can't sleep.
   
   Fiction - cause I like to get away from the reality of every day life.
   Non-fiction though is usually biographies or stories about triumph over adversity.

    I use to like novels but I have outgrown it, so it seems. Now I read inspirational books, life coaching and personality development books which I find more rewarding as I learn a lot from it.

    If not counting the manuscripts and work related documents that I go through, then I would probably say fiction. Especially since I usually read about four books at a time. Presently I am reading: Moby Dick, Lolita, The Hollow Hills, and Elizabeth Browning Barrett Poetry.

       I read a large variety of literature, but I try to mix in the classics because I believe reading good writing will in turn make you a better writer.

    Almost all non-fiction, including history, economics, marketing and business. When I want a little easier reading, I tend to gravitate toward biographies and autobiographies, or natural science. I love a good novel, but ONLY when I'm desperate for "brain candy." They just don't hold my attention any other time.
