It just occurred to me that it's almost November. I know an army of excellent hubpages writers undertook this contest last year. What about now?

I am, for the first time in my life. I'm curious to see how a deadline affects my writing.

Do you have her email? I might be able to turn it up for you if you want.

No. I'm not joining, because I'm not a writer. smile

Awww, you beat me to posting this question Haunty.  I was wondering the same thing.  Yes, I plan on giving it another go.  Don't know how I'll fit all the writing in, but it will be a nice challenge.  I did the NaNo 2 yrs ago and got to 35,000 words that involved 2 w/e's I was unable to write: Thanksgiving and a spiritual retreat.

Hoping this yr will be better-although I'm a little mystified about what I will write about this year.

I sure am!  I was challenged by a friend to complete it just to see if I'm serious 'bout my writing!  Soo excited!  Anybody have outlines or plots ready?

I have a vague plot...that's not so good, is it?  and somewhat of an outline.  Oh well, I'll just be glad to be focused on all of the writing.

Is this the first year for you re: nano?  Good luck.

Denise, is your 2-year-old novel available for people to read? Is it being sold?

I wanted to read last years nano participants' stories, but they're hiding them. smile

        Hi Haunty,
first, it is unfinished.  (It was my first crack at a mystery and I'm having a few technical problems wrapping things up, LOL)
        second, it is NOT published.
third...the longest thing I have posted here is about 1200 words.

I have a story that is around 4500 words and would like to post it for feedback, however, don't know if there is a limit or how to break it up w/o losing the flow.

        Thanks for asking.  smile

I joined, I am not sure how I will keep up the pace as of 5:10 am cst I have written 7,616 words. Maybe not my best work but it's all original and I will just have to wait and see where the story goes. The only problem I have right now is I have to keep going back to check the spelling of my characters names, I don't have any of my notes that I usually do when I start a novel because I didn't hear about this until November 1st and so I was already getting a late start signing up.

Rachelle-you've got me beat. I'm still under 2,000 sad  My daughter told me: "no excuses", but I do have plenty of explanations, LOL    Good luck to you.  I'm hoping this next w/e to do more.

I've decided to join NaNoWriMo in a different capacity. While I enjoy writing new novels, I can't justify distracting myself from the book that is the closest to completion. So I'm using November as a lightning rod to motivate me into finishing my existing book, rather than writing a new one. It's difficult to gauge progress, but so far it has at least gotten me back into the editing process (which is the most annoying part of book creation, in my opinion). Hopefully by the end of this month my book will be that much closer to publication.

This is my first year of doing Nanowrimo, and I'm failing horribly.  My calculator says I need to start writing about 5000 words a day to catch up.

The sad thing is me and a writing buddy of mine placed a wager on who would win, and he's up to 30000!  Dang!
