Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss

Updated on September 17, 2014

The Persistent Fox in Socks Helps Your Kid learn to Read and Have Fun!

Fox in Socks (Beginner Books) is a lovely book for your kid that will turn you both on to the art of tongue twisters!

Dr. Seuss is undoubtedly well-known to most readers. He was born March 2, 1904 and during his long and productive life he published 60 books for children.

Dr. Seuss's books were the first probably the first memorable children's books written - children of all ages can read the Fox in Socks or any of his wonderful books and enjoy them, and I couldn't say that for my very first book: Dick and Jane! And Dr. Seuss proved that phonics can be fun.

Dr. Seuss was able to capture humor, creativity and joy in his books and his life, and reading his books to our kids continues the legacy. This book is especially fun because of all the tongue twisters.

This fox is no ordinary fox - as you shall see in this wonderful book!

Fox in Sock Will Be one of Your Child's Favorites

Every four to eight year old - and a lot of other people too will enjoy Dr. Seuss's Fox in Socks. This book is great by itself, although it is also featured in one of my favorite Dr. Seuss Collections: Dr. Seuss's Beginner Book Collection (Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks)

Fox in Socks (Beginner Books)

Written in 1965, this book concerns two characters "Mr. Knox" and his persistent and annoying companion "Fox." Fox speaks in densely rhyming tongue twisters - really fast- and this drives Mr. Knox batty. Poor Mr. Knox - he just cannot keep up with all those tongue twisters! In an interesting turn of events however, Mr. Knox ends up having the last word and Fox is left speechless for a moment or two.

This is a very simplified version of the original Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. It is greatly abridged from the original and the young reader does not get the strong exposure to tongue twisters. However, what is special about this book for babies and toddlers is that this book is texturized so the child can touch the fuzzy baby chick, or feel the scratchy brick.

@anonymous: Indeed, Dr. Seuss published many books, and they taught otherwise boring concepts like phonics in a wonderful and memorable way.
