Men love to read great books. But great books for men are hard to find.
Men like books that are exciting and uplifting and heroic.
We don't like books about sniveling real estate agents In New Jersey.
If you are looking for great books for men and guys, you are in the right place. And now I written a few of my own: Redwood to Deadwood, a 54-year old dude hitchhikes across America. Again. And, White Girl Bleed a Lot: The Return of Racial Violence and How the Media Ignore it.
p.s. These books are also great in audio after you read them. I just finished listening to Shogun and Lonesome Dove. Great stuff for a hike!

My friend Fred loves to read. But he always falls asleep two or three pages into his book.
"So what are you reading?" I asked.
"100 Years of Solitude," quoth he.
No wonder. For years, book reviewers and academics have been trying to convince us that lousy books are great, great books are lousy, and so my friend Fred ends up falling asleep reading boring and non-sensical books.

She includes the obligatory One Hundred Years of Solitude. And for those who do not read Spanish, not to worry. The book is only marginally more comprehensible in English.
Whew. Deep breath.
Repeat: There is no chance -- NO CHANCE -- that you will find a great book for men in the boxes where your wife stores the books from her college lit courses. No matter what she says.
And yes, that includes John Irving.
So for Fred's sake, read a great book for men.

I can't believe I forgot to add the Richard Sharpe series to my list of favorites. This is the landlubber version of the Horation Hornblower series, only a bit more exciting. You need to read this. Especially you, Lewis.

While taking the University of San Francisco on-line marketing course, I've come across some books about making a bob or two on the internet that are clear and fun and simple and interesting.
Can't beat that combo. So here are a few.

Next, the Unfair Advantage Book on Winning the Search Engine Wars. By Planet Communications. This is the most complete and inspiring book on the subject I've seen so far. Very powerful.

This book, together with the planet ocean book above, are an awesome combination ...one for pay per click, another for the so-called organic search results on google ...
You might want to get this one the old fashioned way: Delivered to your door. The Kindle version does not have the CD and the illustrations are bleak.
But this guy is the big guru of figuring out what is going on with your web site.
For the hardcores.
OK, hardcores: Once you read the Sharpe books, then check out the Sharpe movies on BBC. Sunday nights. And if you miss them, get these and put them right next to the best TV mini-series ever: The Horatio Hornblower movies.
oh man: you've got to read this book and see these movies. that's it. just do it.
I'm not a huge Sci-fi or fantasy fan, far from it. But I did enjoy this series. A lot.

Books to avoid at all costs: Go to Google. Enter, great books for men. Do not give any book on any of the lists such as Esquire, GQ, and others. Not if you want your boyfriend to stay awake while he reads them.
