He was there

Updated on June 4, 2012

A big surprise in a small package

I recently moved which is never a fun process; in fact I am still finishing up the process of that task. In my move however, I somewhat inherited a great surprise which has made the move allot more enjoyable in the form of a cute little furry white Maltese puppy. He has latched onto me and pretty much made me his own. This poem is dedicated to him, my new little friend Sparky.

I'll Be There

Sparky

A cute, fluffy white pup

He was so small,

His sound was so tall

He walked with a strut

And thought he was so tough

Every single day

He would have something to say

It seemed it was always his way

As I awoke from my sleep

At first not even a peep

I then looked up

And he was there

This cute, fluffy white pup

Above my head

Upon my pillow

He made his bed

And not just there

But everywhere I went

He was there

I put on my slippers,

He is there

I go to my study

He is there

I brush my teeth

And there too

He is there

He is so much joy

I make my breakfast

He is there

I make my coffee

He is there

I open the refrigerator;

Again he is there

Not inside but looking in,

Looking up at me, looking at him

He knows I care

So I make his breakfast,

He is really there

I head for the door

Again, he is there

But to let him go

I wouldn’t dare,

Because I care

This little white ball of fur

So cute, so cuddly

Like a little white bear

He doesn’t look real

He’s so full of zeal

Just like a toy

He is so much joy

He shows me he cares

I come back home

This pup doesn’t roam

He flies through the air

To show me he cares

He jumps, he yups

He tells me he’s there

Sometimes I soften,

Though not very often

So when I go

He too goes

In the car but not very far

If he’s good

Like he knows he should

I buy him a bone, a big bone

We take it home

He guards it with care

This pup that’s always there

Because it’s his own

Day and night he naws at this bone

He never leaves it alone

And so it goes;

Never a woe

For this pup that cares

That is always everywhere

This little white pup named Sparky

Is always there
