Hope- A Poem

Updated on January 31, 2015

My favorite

Of all the poems I have written, this one is my favorite. Every time I read it, I remember the day I wrote it. I was sitting in traffic and this peace just washed over me. It is a reminder that in the midst of the business that there is more to life than what we see now. I can't believe how fast time flies and I hope that you enjoy this poem as much as I do.

There are special days when the traffic stops.

When a warm sunbeam invades my space

I close my eyes and am quietly still.

I center my heart and subdue my will.

I hear You then speaking soft and low.

You comfort my soul with a peaceful hold.

And in those precious moments here,

I catch a glimpse of heaven’s shore.

The water on that sea is still.

The sand is soft and warm.

A ray of light encases me

Not with fire but with a petal-soft glow.

In that moment of true peace

I remember why You put me here.

And I am so grateful for this blessed gift

That shows me something better waits for me.

Our troubles here are but temporary.

Our lives are not our own.

I rise again with strength renewed

And remember that God is on the throne.

I never stop longing for that crystal sea.

My spot is there waiting for me.

The hope of peace for all eternity

Drives me forward to do what I need to do.

For in the end peace is what we all long for

And in the quiet stillness of our Heavenly Father is the only place we’ll find it.

I like the end scene of heaven and the ocean.

Thank you for you beautiful comment. It sounds like you had a special mother. I find that explaining my faith in God comes out best in poetry. I feel He speaks to me best when I write. I hope my children can say the same of me when they are older. I hope that they too will remember what is really important. I am very grateful for your words and your encouragement. Thank you.

This reminds me of my mothers poems, and her complete faith in God exposed within all of her poems. Oh how did that effect our lives, that someone believed and many times she was the difference in whether we succeeded. She showed us her faith. thank you, Joycampbell for reminding me what is really important!

I love the message of this poem, joycampbell. Nicely crafted, very soothing and hopeful in its proclamation of God's purpose for us. Voted up and beautiful.
