how you see yourself

Updated on March 22, 2016

looking in

from the outside looking in,

You see yourself,

You see all the things you’ve done,

And know you will do,

You see how much words hurt you,

And how many people have lied,

How they said they loved you,

The next day you see yourself cry,

How you say you don’t care what people think,

But you know you do,

Even if only for a certain few,

You see all these feelings,

You know the ones you never show,

Until the day it all comes out,

And you hurt the ones you love,

the ones you hold so close,

You see all your memories,

Then you begin to cry,

Because the memories you see,

Are the ones you tried to block out,

The ones you thought you threw in the sea,

Never to return again,

Never to be seen,

Never to be heard,

Never to be spoken of again,

You thought all those memories had left you,

But they were only masked,

By the pain that was still within,

And the only way to get rid of your pain,

is to remember,

Because you have to remember,

Before you forget.

      Beautiful work.

I especially loved the last lines.

      You have to remember

      Before you forget.
