I Am a Conundrum

Updated on July 20, 2017

Shannon is a passionate individual whose feelings and thoughts sometimes spill onto the pages in the form of poetry.

Martina McBride - Being Myself

I am a conundrum, a puzzle that I can't even solve

How can I when the pieces stay the same, yet they ever evolve?

I know who I am at my very core,

My deepest values and the things that I stand for

Not a person on Earth can take that away from me

Nor do those things ever stray from me

Though there are times I don't know why I do the things I do

But by looking back and thinking it all through

Sometimes I like the things that I have learned,

The things I gained along the way as the pages turned

Other times, I wish some things could be undone

Never, though, the experience itself - not one

It's all a part of me

And it's all a part of who I'll be

Looking back and thinking it all through, we realize that the good as well as the bad were necessary for us to be who we are today. The most important is to not get stuck in the mud. Move forward is the golden rule.

You are a deep thinker and analyze yourself deeply, dear Shan, as is obvious through your revealing poetry. It is good to do so and learn from our past so that we may grow into who we are meant to be in this present day, a culmination of all of our past mistakes and the wisdom that comes from such, including heartaches and regrets. The hardest thing in life is to forgive ourselves it seems, but once we realize we are all just human and so much alike, it is so important that we give ourselves a break to be human and not get stuck.

      Hugs and peace

Thanks, sweet Faith Reaper. I analyze yoo much and sometimes not enough. LOL. But, yes, we are all human, but I find beauty in that.

Seems you have expressed some of my thoughts exactly, only better than I would. Touching!

Thanks, MsDora! I love it when someone is moved by something I wrote. It's humbling, too, though.

This was so profound to read! Life is so difficult, which I have no doubt you already know. I can so relate to your words. As it is a combination of learning to feel okay with who I am. It can be a long road from point A- when you want to be so many things for so many people. Then to finally reach point B, where all you are concerned with is being true to self.

And ensuring that your journey is on the right path, leading you to the place you are destined to be. :-)

Shared, facebook, HP and twitter! :-) Up= awesome, beautiful, interesting, useful. :-) Thank you for sharing your aspiring thoughts.

      blessings!

Once again, thanks so much for your kind words, Jo. I think being true to self is what allows us to be so many things to others. At that point, either others allow us to be a part of their lives or not.
