Finding Comfort and Reassurance in God's Presence

Every now and then, I do something like a personal spiritual retreat for myself. What that normally entails is me going in search of a book or devotional that answers what my spirit is feeling in that moment. Usually it is around the time that I feel overwhelmed by life, a little dejected or frustrated with circumstances.

On one such occasion, I came across the book "When I'm In His Presence" by Anita Corrine Donihue. It is a calm and soothing devotional that truly takes you into the presence of God with each of its twenty-two (22) chapters that are organized around the following themes:

Assuring, Blessings, Calling, Calming, Christian, Cleansing, Comforting, Correcting, Creating, Encouraging, Faithful, Forgiving, Friendship, Gentle, Giving, Guiding, Healing, Heavenly, Restoring, Surprising, understanding.

Each of the 22 themed chapters is backed by stories, scripture verses from the Bible, and poetry that you can relate to, meditate on and use to do your own spiritual retreat. They each resonate with our human experiences, the many emotions and moods that we feel, our spiritual needs, our physical needs as well as our hopes and aspirations.

As we go through life, it certainly takes its toll on us and sometimes like, the Transfiguration experience in the Bible (Matthew 17), we need a mountain top experience that will put back life and vigour into our spiritual journeying.

I found this devotional to be an uplifting resource for my spiritual renewal and each day felt like a sip of cool, refreshing water for my soul that allowed me to gain the necessary strength I needed to continue my spiritual journey. You will not regret a minute of it!

I believe God's presence is continuous and unbroken. The only variation is our conscious awareness and acceptance, not God's absence.

@Phillyfreeze: Thanks Phillyfreeze69 for your sharing on that very real truth about praising God all the time. That simple "thank you Father" that you say is definitely pleasing to God. Keep praising him. Thanks also for visiting and complimenting my lens. Have a blessed week also.

I usually call Him, Father, unless I'm speaking to Jesus or the Holy Ghost, but they are One. Love this inspiring lens. It would be lovely to add a music video that you want to share. :)

You certainly have the right attitude Delia. You're following the psalmist who rightfully say, "His praise shall continually be on my lips." Thanks for visiting and commenting on my lens.
