It's All About The What If's.

It's All About The What If's.

Just a face in the fog,
about 2:00 A.M.
and a large

thumb upturned,
along the highway
I was cruising,
On a crisp

cold night,
between the

whoomp, whoomp,
of my wiper blades,
he suddenly loomed

on the right,
hang dog look

on his face.

I almost stopped,
even hit

my brakes,
but I was

close to home,
and there

had been some
talk in the city,
about a

serial killer,
on the loose.

So I had

second thoughts.

My last view before
the fog swallowed him,
were his dissappointed
eyes turning

to stare at my
receeding taillights.

The morning

news woke me,
as my radio

alarm went off,
and the second

item reported,
was on a

young man killed
on the expressway,
about 2:05 A.M.
two exits

back from
where I got off,
apparently a car
with its right
headlight burned out
hit him on the berm,
and he was flung
from this world.

I never

knew I was
probably his

last chance,
at staying on
the road to life,
and his face
haunts me

even now,
as I write this poem,
in a fog of dismay.

I am currently gathering, editing and compiling my 4,000 poetic works on a CD that I will make available sometime soon. It can be priced rather cheaply, and is easy to reproduce cheaply as well. Each will have a title that will link you to the poem it goes with, and one can read to their hearts content, whenever them mood strikes them. I thank you again for your interest and kind words. About two million more like you and I will be free of my starving artis identity...lol

Do you ever get the idea of compiling all your poetry into a great collection and self-publish at some place like Lulu or createspace? I have to say you're extremely good...I like that phase "the fog swallowed him".
