Betrayal: A Poem
My heart was stolen
My Father in Heaven said "Ask and it shall be given you..."
So I asked; "Give me a heart that knows no ill."
Then He said, "Stand up, walk on and be whole."
With my trembling knees and quivering legs, I struggle to stand up;
And start the first step;
The first short and weak step from a decade of debilitating hibernation.
My Father in Heaven saw my dilemma so He said, "Ask some more."
And again I asked, "Give me strength to carry on."
Then He said, "Inhale deep, feel your heart, and walk on."
Miraculously, my strength comes back;
And I walk on with vigor and a melody in my new heart;
I can now hear the melodious chirping of the swallows as they soar up the sky;
My heart is humming with the gushing of the wind as it lull the foliage;
With the rhythmic swooshing of the waves as they hit the beach;
My heart is singing praises to the Beauty and Magic that this Universe is meant to be.
Down the lane...
Down the lane we meet by the crossroad;
In the valley of my dreams.
Once again, you steal my new heart;
The new heart; the replacement of my stolen heart;
The new heart that knows no ill;
The new heart given to me by my Father in Heaven.
The angels sing
I should have taken back my heart from you;
But with you beside me my heart could still sing with the melody of the angels up high;
With you by my side, holding my delicate heart; my heart that knows no ill;
The whole universe is a paradise.
So I entrust my heart in your hands.
You gave my heart away
But one day when I wake up;
Tears fill my eyes for you gave my heart away to another...
