Kristin Cashore's "Graceling" on Audio Book is a MUST Listen!

Updated on September 30, 2014

I REALLY enjoyed listening to Kristin Cashore's Graceling. It's safe to say that this audio book was the BEST I've ever listened to.

I listen to a lot of audio books because I am in my car for long amounts of time and I tend to get sleepy while driving. After trying many different cures for my tired driving, I discovered that audio books keep me awake and entertained. I actually look forward to my drives now!

I recently listened to Graceling and was blown away by both the story itself, as well as the amazing job the narrators did while telling the story. It is common for an audio book to be read by just one narrator and for them to create different voices for the many characters. In Graceling, different readers were assigned for the various characters, and it definitely made a world of difference!

The best way to describe the story line is addictive and unexpected. You may think you will be able to predict the outcome of the story or what the characters will and won't do, but you will most always be wrong. These are my favorite kinds of books; the ones that keep you on the edge of your seat and make you feel like the characters are long lost friends. I was honestly a little sad when I reached the end!

If you love audio books as much as I do, or if you are interested in trying one out, I highly recommend visiting www.Audible.com to download the digital version of the book to your phone or iPod. The prices are MUCH more reasonable than purchasing a CD. Also, you can always check out your local library and borrow an audio book for free!

A BRIEF SYNOPSIS (WITHOUT SPOILING THE STORY)

Graceling is the story of the Graceling girl Katsa, who has extraordinary fighting skills and is "graced" with the power to kill. The story takes place in a mythical land, composed of 7 kingdoms, ruled by mostly corrupt kings. Katsa and her friends secretly strive to right the wrongs of some of these unjust kings and seek to uncover the mystery behind a curious kidnapping.

I highly recommend you delve into this book; you will be enchanted and ensnared by the journey of self discovery, adventure, suspense, and romance. Kristin Cashore definitely did an amazing job and this book shows her undeniable skill as a wonderful story teller and writer.

UNOFFICIAL GRACELING BOOK TRAILER

I found a fan made trailer on YouTube for Graceling and I thought the creators did a pretty good job! For you folks out there who are visual people, this trailer may give you a better sense of this book.

MORE BOOKS FROM THE GRACELING REALM SERIES

Fire (A Companion to Graceling)
Fire (A Companion to Graceling)

Fire is a Prequel to Graceling and no less fascinating! This is an amazing story as well! I do miss the narrators from Graceling, but this narrator does a good job too.

Bitterblue (Graceling)
Bitterblue (Graceling)

Bitterblue is the last book in the trilogy, but is more of a continuation for Graceling. I absolutely adored this book, as well as the whole trilogy. The whole series is a MUST READ. (or MUST LISTEN in my case) :)
