Letter Endings, Letter Closings

Updated on February 3, 2011

Have you ever felt it's boring to use the same letter endings or letter closings over and over again? Sometimes, a good, flippant closure does not come naturally, so it's always useful to have a list of possibilities at your fingertips.

Informal Letter EndingsĀ

Letter endings that I think are friendly and less formal - something I would use to close a letter to a friend:

  • Always in my thoughts,
  • As always, with affection,
  • Be well,
  • Cheerio,
  • Cheers,
  • Chill,
  • God Bless,
  • Peace, Love & Happiness,
  • Rock on,
  • Season's blessings,
  • See ya,
  • Take care,

Formal Letter Endings

Some of the letter endings that I consider formal and less friendly. They are good for closing business letters:

  • Best Regards,
  • Best Wishes,
  • Cordially,
  • I look forward to hearing from you soon,
  • Kind Regards,
  • More Shortly,
  • Truly,
  • Yours Faithfully,
  • Yours Sincerely,

Love Letter Closings

Letter closings that are good at the end of love letters or letters sent to a loved one:

  • Eternally Yours,
  • Kiss ya,
  • Kisses,
  • Hug ya,
  • Love you so much,
  • Love always,
  • Lustfully yours,
  • Xoxo,
  • Missing you already,
  • Missing you every moment,
  • My heart belongs to you always,
  • Sending you all my love,
  • Soon to be your wife,
  • LYLC = love ya like crazy,
  • Hugs, kisses, and gropes,
  • I could eat you!
  • Bjocas (kisses)

Funny Letter Closings

Letter closings that are funny or a bit unusual:

  • May the Force be with you,
  • Yours 'til the cat meows,
  • Rock on,
  • Hugs and pogo sticks,
  • Hugs, kisses, and broken fingers,
  • Keep your stick on the ice,
  • Shine on,
  • May I always live to serve you and your crown,
  • Yours til the cow moooooooss,
  • Forever and always or is it?
  • Your Majesties exiled servant,
  • Au revoir
  • Go with God
  • Vive la revolution!
  • Did you fart?
  • Don't sweat the petty things, just pet the sweaty things
  • See you in the inbox,
  • Happiness is a choice,
  • Take care, comb your hair,
  • Fica bem (live long and prosper)
  • saudades (I miss you.)
  • Peace, love, and vitamin c,
  • Plant you now, dig you later,
  • Yours till the amusement parks,
  • With trepidation,
  • Go forth and multiply,
  • Till death do us part,
  • OMG the dogs on fire,
  • Your pet,
  • Only you can prevent forest fires,
  • Catch you on the next bounce,
  • I'll leave you to it,

I love your funny closings...especially the one that says OMG the dogs on fire...very clever! I have a co-worker who always says Rock On...she would like that one.

Someone once said it's nice to say something in response to each comment that you get. This is my best performing hub. Receives 1/3 of all my page views. Sorry, if you are not interested. ;)

Very cute - I would probably add 'screw you' depending on my mood or who the letter was going to - okay - probably not but I'd be thinking it! Will have to copy some of those down though for future reference....

I'm bookmarking this one Haunty for future reference. Of course living in France I also have the option of cher, chère to start. Want to know what yours sincerely is in French? Thought so - veuillez agréer, Monsieur, Madame, l'expression de mes sentiments distingués. Phew! Living in Brittany I can confuse people with Kenavo the Breton word for goodbye. Kenavo then :)
