losing my religion_

Updated on February 27, 2013

I thought I saw you

behind the veil of a dream

Your scent lingered a window

like footsteps in the snow

I thought I heard you

laughing

somewhere in a distant corner

the breaking glass echo

became the oceans ripple

that drank the sands of time

I remember when you were mine

I remember how you tried

to break every chain

I remember

the sun falling

when you exchanged your soul for a price tag

and I remember

trying to burn London's bridge

and every night in France

I can still taste your dandelion wine

lips kissed soft honey dew pearls

the green grass, grew carpet blades

an old log, became our pillow

I can still feel your body

and how your hands became flowers

I can still taste the fire

and every flake of ash

I remember thinking

I said too much

when you deflected Cupid's arrow

with a butterfly glance

and I remember hoping

you didn't hear me

biting my tongue until it bled

never again

would those three words be said

I loved you from afar

and God knows

I wished upon every star

when the rumors held your breath

and you couldn't breathe for sanity

dreams of paper machete

turned into sorrow's confetti

I thought I saw you, yesterday

walking in a songs lyric

but all the yellow bricks were cracked

specks of hazel mint, fell from the clouds

with every tear that you let fall

they became the moat around your wall

I played the joker

thinking my heart was made of armour

and that your words

wouldn't cut so deep

I thought I heard you praying

but it was only me

crying

somewhere in the corner

staring out the window

watching the days become snowflakes

covering your footprints

until my heart turns white

and your memory fades

like jasmine in the wind.

This amazing piece here cuts straight through one's heart. Your writing is not like anything I have read before, so powerfully beautiful, stunning, raw and rich with emotion and pain.

Gives me chills! Voted way up ++++ and sharing

Thanks for writing here on HP, and please never stop!

      Blessings, Faith Reaper
