Love and Lovers

Updated on February 9, 2015

He had taken this wilted flower

straight from a garden

where sad and beautiful she had grown

with no love of her own

He delighted in her beauty

she flourished under his radiant care

every day like two turtle doves

they shared sweet kisses

It was like life began

the moment they met

neither with a love of their own

searching the world over

Like the oceans that rush to shore

like birds that fill the world with song

nothing could be more beautiful

than the love that they shared

The years had taken nothing

they still glowed in their love

like lovers from the past

their love was meant to last

Melodies of love

composed so many years ago

all speak about the beauty

the wonder of true love

Art works depict this magic

in colors most wondrous

statues and monuments, fountains galore

all created to honor amour

No matter what language you speak

one look, one kiss, one warm hand to hold

speaks one universal language

the language of love

Angels in heaven above

gather together like cupids

watching over lovers below

throwing darts so love will grow
