message in a broken bottle

Updated on March 6, 2013

it happened today

I found the prophecy

an obituary

wrapped inside a fortune cookie

the sun rose differently this day

the newspapers were all shouting dooms day

I didn't hear the birds sing this morning

just one scared voice stuttering

there were whisperings of it

in sleepy hollow hallways of darkened private bathrooms

they were coming

danced upon their breath

their tongues of dead carcasses

marching to vulture carrion

death was coming

in their step

steel toed boots and heal

clicking like a time clock

time bomb

lit fuse

we knew

we heard the whisperings upon the wings of truth and fear

there were signs of it in autumns rustling winds

was spelled upon her leaves

falling slowly

through the strongest branches of the wisest weeping willows

the owls didn't blink

the mocking birds paranoia

was speaking clearly today

there was no stutter

no stare off into space

no tongues tied

their wings shined

flashing SOS with mirrors and mime

it was just a matter of time

we saw the handwriting on the wall

but we did nothing

nothing at all

we just hoped it would all go away

but it stayed

we didn't feed it, but it grew

now we all sign with blinking eyes

trying not to leave a clue

but their vision like glue

they see all of you

they see everything

the whisperings grew louder... with metal in it's voice

it was coming

and none of us knew

where to hide

first the cell phones didn't work

some thought it was all in our head

then the radio and electricity

they all went dead

the sound of static filled the land

we never knew

people were disappearing

We were all getting sick, some got sicker

while the makers of vaccines became rich

then got richer

filed in line like all good cattle do

gave us our shots and bid us adieu

while the scientists kept twisting the strands of DNA

the media looked the other way

we were all looking somewhere else

they were here all along

in secret

today the atheists are praying

the christians are questioning

and the muslims are disappearing

everyone is in the dark

gasping for breath

our worst nightmare come true

my last scribbles

on these torn pages

my last fingerprints

upon this earth

stuffed in a bottle

who ever you are

whoever finds this

let everyone know the truth

they're coming...

they're coming...

Oh God

They are here

Thanks Eman... always great to find a new face here... appreciate your time and words my friend. Yes... I feel ya on the dark place... indeed... it's such a shame cause we all know it doesn't have to be... in the end, I think we all need to hope... that once the darkness ends, the sun will rise again

Hope your staying warm this cold winter... thanks again

This is brilliant mate. Every line was written with grace and honesty and I could so feel so much fear as the sudden realization hits me that the world is becoming such a dark place. Voted up
