The Billboard Sign (limerick)

Updated on July 6, 2013

A man was on the top of a building
He wanted to end his grieving
But the thought of jumping
And him really dying
Makes him doubt what he's thinking.

Now he has second thoughts to beat
So with one last chance, he said
"Give me a sign that I should stop this"
He opened his eyes and he didn't miss
The billboard sign that read: JUST DO IT.

Wow... Unknown you just keep surprising me. lol. It reminds of me of Seinfeld. Listen.

Kramer: "Newman called me last night threatening to jump off the building"

Jerry: "Oh yeah, what did you say?"

Kramer: "I told him to jump and quit bothering me about it."

lol... everything reminds me of that. But you get the drift. I love reading your work. :)

Hi Billy, Shining, Brave, Joyce, Ann, Ruby, TT,

      thank you so much..

Larry, yeah, thanks..i was inspired by J. there is no final message here, just a witty poem..

Lipnancy, there's no really message here, this is suppose to put a smile on someone's face because he saw the Nike's billboard.

To all those I have might offended with this poem, all my apologies.. this is only a witty nonsense write, that in the end rhymes with the Nike's sign. I don't even know it this is really limerick since I never encountered limericks before..

I'm not that very creative with limericks.. ^;^

Spy, you did a great job. As a limerick is defined as: " ...is a kind of a witty, humorous, or nonsense poem, especially one in five-line anapestic or amphibrachic meter with a strict rhyme scheme (AABBA), which is sometimes obscene with humorous intent." You nailed it to a "t." VUM! :)

      Ms. Spy,

This was definitely a change of pace for you. From a technical standpoint it is well done. Unfortunately, I am not sure the final message is clear.

I must confess I did laugh at first. But it really was not funny. Perhaps the Just Do It sign from God meant to Just Do It and rethink it.

...love your cynical sardonic humor here - now you are entering epi-man territory - lol - and this must be one of the great hubs of all time in the sense of how you so cleverly tie in the Nike billboard ad with some Nike advertising down below - if that is not genius then you are not one of the best writers here at the hub - and that is an affirmative 'yes' on both counts .... hubbravo from the epi-man - lake erie time 5:01am canada
